Our History
The evolution of Silver Crane
1979
Silver Crane was born! From originally producing fun ceramic tea pots to sell in Camden Lock Market, to now the most beautiful tins in the world.
In the early days, brand recognition was the key to success of our designs which included the ceramic Parker Pen Brand, Gordon’s Gin Cocktails kits, Kiwi Shoe Care kits and Shell Car kits.
1981
Our first Trade Show! We exhibited at Birmingham Spring Fair showcasing a range of ceramics and tinware.
1987
We were honoured to win the Queen’s Award for Export and were invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and personally receive the award from Her Royal Highness.
1991
We started filling our tins with confectionery!
We doubled our in-house design department and took advantage of the gap in the market place for highly innovative and decorative tinware in the food and gift markets.
1994
Best in Metal! Year on year, our tins have won the prestigious “Best in Metal” Awards – in all categories including Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The ‘Oscars’ of the UK tin box industry!
1994
We won a World Packaging Organisation Award! Each year WPO recognises the best of the best in packaging innovations from across the globe.
2005
In 2005, we moved our offices to the beautiful Somerley Estate!
…and if you’re influenced by where you work then this is one of the reasons why so many good things are coming out of the Silver Crane design studios.
2009
In 2009, we were winners at the UK Packaging Award! This was an award we continued to win for a number of years after.
2012
We were awarded Design Team of the Year! This was a major award for Silver Crane as we were up against hundreds of design teams across the entire packaging industry!
2019
In May, we opened our 50,000 sq ft modern warehouse and packing facility in Poole, UK. It is an ambient temperature-controlled warehouse and distribution centre ideally placed near to international ports and major highways.
2020
Motif was awarded GOLD for its packaging design in the annual FAB awards confectionery and snacks category, runners up included the likes of Fortnum and Mason and Montezuma.
